Dining Chair Cushions

Chair cushions add needed softness to hard wooden kitchen and dining room chairs, but choosing kitchen chair seat cushions that don’t overpower the kitchen set isn’t easy. You could just get a set of chair cushions for a few bucks at a discount store, however, will they coordinate with your room’s style, or detract from it? The construction, durability, and comfortability of less expensive cushions are inferior.
Taking the time to select well-made, quality decorative seat cushions for your kitchen or dining room set will result in a more comfortable set that lasts longer and requires less care. These things must be considered when you are selecting the chair cushions for your wooden chairs. Select the appropriate dimensions for the seat because it won’t be comfortable if the cushion isn’t big enough. If the size is too large it won’t look nice, plus the chair edges where the cushions overlap cause extra wear and shorten their lifespan.
Make sure that any ties are sewn into the seam of the cushion. The ties or straps on a chair cushion get pulled and tugged frequently from everyday use. They are far more likely to stay attached if the ties are sewn into the seam.
Buying window seat cushions treated with stain guard can be easily kept clean. If you find the perfect cushions and they’re not stain resistant, invest in a can of stain resist or stain guard to make it easier to keep them looking fresh and new. After all, this is your kitchen, and your kids eat here, right? You should choose a cushion that is either washable or removable, and can be washed. Despite having stain guard protection, occasional spills will be absorbed. Your life will easier if you are able to put your chair cushions into the water. Be sure to pick cushions in a durable fabric, that is able to stand up to the wear of lots of seating.
The most durable fabrics include corduroy, denim, chintz, canvas and duck for cushions that will last a long time. Rolled edges, piping and ruffles should all be firmly sewn into the seam between the top and bottom of the cushion. Examine the full length of the seam for any gaps or breaks and pull gently on ruffles or piping to be sure they are fully attached. Tufted cushions are pretty – but they can be uncomfortable if you sit on them for long periods of time. Make sure, when choosing tufted cushions, make sure the buttons are sewn through all the layers of the chair cushion to avoid losing buttons to wriggling bottoms.
